~~ Social Profiles
Social Media Is Dead
As may be expected, I am active on a few social medias, you can find quick links to them on my Linktree.
Below, I have a summary of how I use each social media, explaining why I have paired each platform with this sort of content and any comments or critiques I have on them.
Tumblr
My experience of tumblr is that it is primarily a fandom, meme and activist space. Most of the posts I personally see are memes and activism/mental health/making yourself and your life better content. The limited art content I see is either furry or, more commonly, fandom art. Being discovered on tumblr is basically impossible. Your blog is more likely to be flagged for imagined mature content than to take off virally.
My Content
- SFW only
- Rolling reblogs of original works
- Occasional updates on my art journey
- Featured art from other artists
- Posts summarising open commissions
Pros
- Comprehensive tagging system for sorting (great!) and discoverability (negligible)
- I have internet friends on there who support me and like to see my work
- Easy for people to share your work on their blogs to spread the word
Cons
- Not a lot of support for original artists
- Bigoted CEO leading to a non-diverse userbase (lack of trans women)
- Unlikely to stick around long term

A Twitter clone. Currently it seems to be filled with those escaping Twitter and thus run their profiles in the same sort of way. I was never on Twitter so there’s a culture here that I’ve never been privy to. Lot of bigots on here able and willing to just be sending abuse everywhere. My primary reason for using it is that it’s good to have a mainstream platform that allows NSFW content – as I have limited places to post it. I have full expectation that the platform will be sold off and NSFW content banned within the next 5 years (this written in 2025).
My Content
- NSFW and SFW content
- Usually daily updates of artwork from current and back catalogue
- Currently not regularly reblogging already-posted work
- Responses and socialising with others on the platform
Pros
- There's numbers on there
- If you tag a post as #art then it turns up on everyone's fyp
- All the people I know in real life have profiles there
- No ads outside of personal promotions
Cons
- The numbers do not mean anything and a platform that draws in people who are affirmed by lots of notifications can only be adding to a bad experience (imo)
- No way to sort or tag artwork in a meaningful way
- People will like and move on, no fan retainment

An app primarily for artists. Therefore, nobody on here is a customer/client. I’d like to think it would be good for networking and finding other artists “on my level” to collaborate and interact with. Alas, like every other site it uses a popularity algorithm, meaning I never fucking SEE artists on my level. I see the same artists who have 20,000 likes on their art. Cara is a sort of half-way between Twitter and Instagram, having a feed and also a profile with a “grid”.
My Content
- SFW only
- Usually daily updates of artwork from current and back catalogue
- Profile default set to portfolio view where you can easily view my artwork
Pros
- Portfolio very easy to view an artists collection
- You can personalise your home feed to show whatever percentage of content from your feed, your networks and brand new content
- Easy to use
- Built in Glaze? Idk if this actually works
- No ads
Cons
- Not very busy
- Everyone showing their artwork to a brick wall – very little interaction
Fur Affinity
A hub for furry artwork. It’s known quite well for pornographic / NSFW content. Make sure you use your filters/blacklist!
My Content
- NSFW and SFW furry content only (including Qin Terra characters)
- List of commissions on my commission page
Pros
- Tags are simple and easy to use, therefore easy to filter for content you want to avoid
- Folders/collections of art great for sorting work
- Easy to use
- Commissions page
- Submission text very open – you can post links in the text content without it affecting the discoverability of your stuff
Cons
- Lots of posts daily so hard to get discovered (unless your art is furry porn of a popular character)
- Images show up on search engines and very easy to download/save
- Lots of personal ads - most NSFW
ToyHouse
A database space for characters, worlds etc. Really good for collecting art and information of your characters and gives credit to artists who’ve drawn your characters or who you’ve done art for. It’s really good for fleshing out who your characters are for people who are interested. I also use it so I can access my reference sheets on the go.
My Content
- NSFW and SFW art of mine and other people’s characters
- Profiles for most of my OCs, including Qin Terra characters
- Expressing myself using my profile :)
Pros
- Easy to sort art and characters
- Really good community
- No ads
- HTML in profiles (yours and characters')
- You can use it to keep track of adopts you’ve sold
Neutrals
- Not aimed towards discoverability
